The long awaited update to the Thesis Theme framework – Thesis 2.0 – is set to release on October 1st. I’m very excited about this.
Thesis 2.0 has been in development for quite awhile and much ado has been made about the coming improvements and additional features that it will offer. I can’t wait to start playing around with it. đ
Alright, so for those of you that don’t know what the hell it is that I’m talking about…the Thesis Theme is a premium WordPress theme framework. It is hands-down my favorite theme for WordPress; however, the term theme is not entirely accurate in the traditional sense…Thesis is more of a blank canvas.
It’s a highly configurable theme framework which allows you total creative freedom over your WordPress site, without fear of your customizations being overwritten with future upgrades. It’s also intelligently coded with loads of inherent features that facilitate good SEO.
I use Thesis on about 90% of my clients’ sites, and on almost every single one of my personal projects – including this site. It’s this WordPress developer’s opinion that Thesis is far and away the best theme solution available for WordPress.
Anyhow…rather than me blab on about Thesis and how amazing it is…have a look at this short video of Chris Pearson explaining some of the Thesis 2.0 awesomeness to AppSumo’s Neville Medhora…

Thesis 2.0 Requires a New Buy-In for Existing Users?
This I’m not too excited about.
Correction: Thesis 2.0 will be a free upgrade for existing Developers License users only. If you have an existing Thesis Developers License you will get the free bonuses as well – directly through DIY Themes. đ
I was a little bit confused by the video, but Derek halpern of DIY Themes clarified things for me in a recent post…
“If you do own Thesis, donât worry. Youâll get the bonuses too. Youâll also get Thesis 2.0 at no additional charge.
However, if you own the personal option, and you want to take advantage of developerâs option only bonuses, nowâs the time to upgrade. You can do that by logging into your DIYthemes account and buying the Developerâs option add-on.”
Apparently…my developer license is only good for an additional 12 months worth of updates, after which I’ll have to repurchase the new Thesis 2.0 developer license in order to get lifetime upgrades. Thesis is not cheap, but then again, you get what you pay for.
And considering all that Thesis is – it’s actually a really damn good value. Even though I’m a little surprised over the news that I need to repurchase a developer license, I’ll gladly do it because Thesis is the biz.
Also, it sounds as if Thesis 2.0 is going to be a total rebuild, so in essence it will be like a whole new theme. Plus, there are going to be a bunch of new features that are freakin’ sweet! Some of the things I’ve seen mentioned that will be in Thesis 2.0: built-in social media buttons, auto-updates (no more FTP!), child themes, and a more intuitive and user-friendly editor.
AppSumo Pre-Order Deal
AppSumo has a sweet deal right now which gives you $33.00 off the price of Thesis 2.0, plus some additional free bonuses – including some free skins (yes, Thesis is going to feature a new child theme system, which are called skins, much like Genesis…YES!) and some new plugin type thingies.
This deal lasts for one-week-only, so don’t delay.
Hey, nice article about “Appsumoâ. I will definitely follow this for my company to give the best possible services to my customers. Keep on adding this type of valuable content again and again. Hope to read more from you. Thank you!
